Abstract
The cation exchange capacity of roots of several grape species and species hybrids was determined, the values being expressed on a dry weight basis as me/100 gms. The relationships among the C.E.C., the vegetative vigor and the root appearance of the experimental plants are discussed. The average nutrient levels for scion varieties on several of the hybrid rootstocks in field trials in California are presented and these are compared with the C.E.C. of the stocks concerned.
