Abstract
Higher-order equations that describe the curves which relate specific gravity to Brix, alcohol, and extract were derived by regression analysis. These polynomials were combined in the Taberié formula for computing extract. A program was designed, with this formula to eliminate extract analysis, tables reference, interpolation or approximation, and solve all blend computations. For a blend of various wines, the computer will calculate the resultant analysis and/or compute the required volumes of each wine to arrive at desired analysis. All handcalculator computations are eliminated. The printer offers a hard copy for documentation of the final blend.
