Pool YR 1968 UL http://www.ajevonline.org/content/19/3/185.abstract AB The effect of differential cropping on growth and fruiting of Vitis vinifera `Thompson Seedless,' `Carignane,' and `Ribier' grapevines was studied. Heavy cropping delayed fruit maturation and resulted in straggly clusters with small berries. It also induced premature drying of foliage. Overcropping in `Carignane' moderately reduced the level of total available carbohydrates (sugars and starch) in the roots. Three years of overcropping did not markedly weaken the vines of any variety.
