Gordon Mitchell A1 Gene Mayer YR 1976 UL http://www.ajevonline.org/content/27/2/65.abstract AB Vines were trunk-girdled with complete girdles and with various percentages of bark left intact to study the effects of incomplete girdles. In one `Thompson Seedless' trial, berry weights were reduced with 95% complete girdles, and in the second trial with 90% complete girdles as compared to 100% girdles. Number of shattered berries per container, when vibrated, was increased when girdling completeness dropped to 80% as compared to 100 or 90% complete. With `Ribier,' only the 100% complete girdles advanced maturity.
