Wolpert Y1 - 1978/01/01 UR - http://www.ajevonline.org/content/29/4/229.abstract N2 - The number of nodes per cane was shown to have an effect on the development and onset of growth of primary buds at basal nodes. The delay in development of primary shoots was sufficient in 1977 to reduce spring freeze kill from 56% to 2% for nodes 1-5 and 49% to 10% for nodes 1-10. A pruning procedure to take advantage of this effect is presented. ER -
