AB A series of field trials was conducted to test the effectiveness of several herbicides in killing the shoot and roof systems of unwanted grapevines. These trials were conducted during the years 1954 through 1959 and at several locations in California. Several soil-injected fumigants were quite effective in killing the shoots and a limited portion of the root systems of treated vines. Other herbicides, applied either as foliage sprays or stump treatments, were either less effective or quite hazardous fo adjacent vines.
