Abstract
The kinetics of tannin adsorption by poly-N-vinyl pyrrolidone is investigated. The rate of adsorption with tannic acid is found to be between 3rd and 4th order in tannic acid. For the adsorption of wine solubles the rate is highly concentration-dependent, being above 4th order. The reaction is very fast at all temperatures and has an exceedingly small activation energy. Adsorptive capacity is gained by carrying out the process at low temperatures.
