Abstract
Cultivars have different sensitivities to napthalene acetic acid (NAA). Freedom and Ruby Cabernet showed the greatest sensitivity to the concentrations by the development of longitudinal splits in the bark at the bases of the cuttings through which callus and roots developed. Ganzin 1, St. George, and French Colombard were less sensitive, and Harmony was least sensitive.
All of the control cuttings of the cultivars, except Ganzin 1, callused well at the base of the cuttings. The top buds of cuttings of French Colombard and Ruby Cabernet that were not treated were somewhat inhibited by use of NAA at the beginning of shoot growth.
