Abstract
Five strains of leuconostocs isolated from Japanese wine and deposited in the American Type Culture Collection under various species names are considered to belong to the species Leuconostoc oenos. This opinion is based primarily on the properties of their lactate dehydrogenase and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase.
