Abstract
Vines T-budded using the inverted T-budding method gave successful takes equivalent to those obtained using the regular T-bud method. The insertion of the bud was easier using the inverted "T" method, in which the bud is inserted upward, because the rounded tip of the bud shield tracks its way up the vertical cut much better than when the bud is inserted downward, as it is using the regular "T". Wrapping with plastic tape is faster and uses less tape. Inverted T-budded vines yielded 92% good bud unions, compared with 62% for the regular T-budded vines.
