Sour rot on Vitis vinifera cv. Riesling. Sour rot develops on wounded grapes by way of an interaction between ethanol-producing yeast, acetic acid bacteria, and Drosophila fruit flies. Fruit flies play a key role in symptom development, and effective management strategies require control of the microorganisms and the fruit flies. See Hall et al., pp. 342–350.
