Viticultural sustainability may be improved by precisely quantifying and managing vineyard energy and mass exchanges. The eddy covariance technique was used in northeastern Italy to continuously monitor carbon dioxide fluxes in the free atmosphere above the canopy, providing new insight into the vineyard carbon budget.
