Grapevine red blotch disease can seriously affect vineyard performance. In British Columbia, diseased Cabernet franc vines were less winter hardy and had delayed or incomplete leaf fall. Compared with healthy clusters (inset; top), diseased clusters (inset; bottom) had fewer but larger berries of poor quality for winemaking. (See Bowen et al., pp. 308–318).
