YR 2015 UL http://www.ajevonline.org/content/early/2015/04/15/ajev.2015.14120.abstract AB Microwave Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry (MP-AES) was used for elemental analysis of Malbec wines from Argentina and the USA. Using just 6 elements (Sr, Rb, Ca, K, Na and Mg), Malbec wine from Mendoza, Argentina and California, USA were compared. The Malbec wines from these two countries were clearly separated based on their elemental profile in a Partial Least Squares-Discriminant Analysis (PLS-DA). To our knowledge, this is the first time that MP-AES was used for the discrimination of geographical origin of Malbec wines using 6 different elements.
