YR 1963 UL http://www.ajevonline.org/content/14/3/144.abstract AB From our three-year study it appears that individual berry-cluster and whole-vine sampling give similar maturity values. There is a tendency for berry and cluster samples to be riper, especially early in the season, but this is offset by the greater variability of whole-vine samples. Our studies and most other recent studies reported indicate that single-berry sampling is as effective as other methods. Because of its simplicity and reliability, it appears to be an acceptable procedure for collecting maturity information.
